If you made the wrong purchasing decision that is solely your own fault. While Notch was accepting rewards for his work people were complaining that he was spending more time having the good life instead of slaving away for the users who bought his game for around 10 bucks.īe more respectful of developers, you aren't an investor, you are a consumer. If a AAA game that costs $60 isn't patched because patching costs too much and the game didn't sell enough to justify it the reaction I tend to see is "oh well", but if an iOS game crashes while trying to run it on a beta firmware update you can be sure you'll find dozens, if not hundreds, of 1 star reviews on the app store. I've seen this type of message popup multiple times for different projects and it's funny how it seems that the least people pay for a piece of software the more they expect to find their money's worth. I wish there was a bit more "meat" to the game but it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless. I'm thankful for whatever future updates we get, if any at all, and I played a couple of dozens of hours in the game for $20, so I feel like I quite got my money's worth already. I don't think you have any right to feel entitled to something more but you do have the right to feel upset if you don't think that the game's development is going at the pace that you'd like it to, that's fair. It's not exactly like you were ripped off. You should never buy anything that doesn't have enough value for what you paid for.įor what you paid ($20 or close to that) you got a 3D procedurally generated beautiful action RPG with theoretically infinite amount of content and working multiplayer. So GAF, what do you think about him? Do you think he's still developing the game? Or are we all tricked into buying a dead product? But as it stands now, my worry grows each day. If you come out with a new update, you'll have a chance to regain my trust and I'll regret having to do this thread. You're not dead, seeing as you apparantly went to Gamescom. Where are you? Show me you are still working on the game. So, this is my call towards Wolfram von Funck. Of course some of you'd say it is an alpha, after all. Edit: I don't think the game itself is a deliberate scam, but more the fact of the already released alpha this 'early' in the dev stage. I don't particularly care about the money I 'lost', but if this was a smart trick to gather some dollars, I feel bad for supporting a scam. It looks like he just took our money and ran, and I regret pledging towards the game. But the total lack of transparency bothers me. The official Facebook also doesn't feature any updates on the game since June. The site's forum also seem to be down for 'maintenance', and all posts are from one month ago. Nothing has been heard from him since then, and it looks like the guy just has disappeared into nowhere. Wollay's twitter hasn't been updated for over a month, bare three tweets of him trolling with 'going to gamescom'. The last newspost promised new updates, but we still haven't got any word from them. The site hasn't been updated for over a month. No problem, I thought, they will all fix it with the money I gave them. The game started out as a great concept, but after a few days of playing I felt like it missed content. To all the Cubeworld fans out there, I'm starting to worry.
